Should You Buy Grammarly? Is It Worth It?

Is Grammarly Worth It?

Everyone makes the occasional spelling or punctuation mistake, especially when in a hurry. Deadlines must be met, but not at the cost of quality or accuracy. If you’ve never tried Grammarly before , you might not realize what an essential addition to your content creation toolbox it can be.

And Grammarly isn’t just for freelance writers or journalists; if you run your own business or send emails to customers or clients, using the right words could be vital. Grammarly helps users identify and correct mistakes in writing. In this article, I review why you should buy Grammarly and how it can benefit you.

What is Grammarly?

Grammarly is an online tool that can be accessed anywhere, anytime, to improve your writing. It’s a grammar checker and an online plagiarism checker. It identifies grammar and common mistakes in your writing so you can quickly fix them.

It’s like having a professional editor in your pocket. It’s available in Chrome and Firefox extensions and iOS and Android apps. Grammarly can be integrated into Microsoft Word to provide automated proofreading suggestions. It can also be used to write content on websites like LinkedIn, Medium, and HubSpot.

Why use Grammarly for your business?

First, it will improve the quality of your content. Professionally written content that is free of errors is essential for your business. Your readers expect error-free content, and if you provide content full of mistakes, it will look unprofessional and give the impression that your business is careless.

Grammarly can help you write near-flawless content; your readers will be more likely to engage with your content. If your readers find a grammar error in your article, they will most likely stop reading it. Grammarly will also help you create a more positive brand image.

A well-written blog post or article can be shared on social media, but there’s no need to fluff your lines even if writing isn't your thing. Grammarly will make it easier to write articles that you can share on social media.

Grammarly can make you more attractive to potential clients; they look for content creators they can trust. If you provide error-free content, you will seem more professional and trustworthy.

Grammarly was the first service I ever paid for as a new content creator; I remember fretting over the expense; did I really need it? Well, the answer was yes; Grammarly improved my content massively.

1. How can Grammarly benefit your business?

Grammarly can help you write more concisely, which keeps your articles short enough to keep readers attention. It will also improve your article’s readability by fixing issues such as sentence structure, word choice, and vocabulary. Grammarly can help you write faster by suggesting topic ideas for your articles.

As mentioned above, Grammarly can also be used to edit your social media posts. This includes posts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. There’s nothing worse than clicking the submit button on an article or Social Media post, only to spot a glaring error the next day. It’s too late; everyone’s spotted your mistake.

2. Correct Spelling Mistakes

Grammarly can help you detect and correct spelling mistakes, incorrect word usage, and alternative spelling suggestions. I always advocate a write first, edit later approach, and write my articles or blog posts in a separate document to get the most out of Grammarly's spelling checker.

Once I’ve gone over my post with Grammarly, I then proofread it a final time to check everything is okay. Grammarly is great at cleaning up your writing for you, but a word of caution; sometimes, the suggested edits just don’t make sense.

Use it as an excellent tool, not a replacement for your common sense. At times, I agree with a Grammarly edit, and then upon proofreading, I find the sentence doesn’t make sense. There’s no substitution for your own critical eye.

3. Find Duplicate Words

Many business owners tend to repeat the same words over and over again. This is called overusing keywords or keyword stuffing. However, this is not a good strategy for SEO. Grammarly will help you identify and replace repetitive words.

To find out if you are repeating words in your writing, go to the Grammarly website and select your article. On the left side of the screen, select the option “Find and Replace.” This will open a new window where you can enter the word or words you want to replace.

4. Detect Sentence Structure Issues

Grammarly can help you identify issues with your sentence structure. This includes run-on sentences, comma splices, and comma mistakes. You should know where to put your comma when you write a sentence.

You should know when to write a period and when to write a semicolon. You probably do, but everyone occasionally misses one, which is why Grammarly is such a helpful resource.

Before submitting or posting your work, you should always use a sentence structure checker. This can make your writing easier to understand. It will help you avoid common grammar mistakes like writing a run-on sentence. A run-on sentence is a sentence that has no end.

5. Identify Vocabulary Issues

Grammarly can help you identify issues with your vocabulary. Let’s say you are writing an article about the best SEO tools. You may decide to use a word like “discombobulating” in your article just because you know how to spell it.

You don’t want to use a fancy word that your readers might not understand but you might not know what to replace it with; Grammarly can help you decide if the word you use is the best word choice. It can help you find alternative words that make sense and are easier to understand.

It will also help you avoid using words that have multiple meanings. Many blog posts prefer a friendly tone; it puts a reader at ease and is a more accessible and personable experience. Grammarly can help keep your tone light, academic, or professional, whatever you ask of it.

6. Conclusion

Grammarly is a superb addition to any content creator's arsenal; it helps keep your writing clean, concise, and professional. For content writers and copywriters, it’s essential, but regardless of the type of content you create, you’ll need to email a client or customer at some point. Imagine their alarm when they spot typos, or worse, can’t make any sense of what you’re writing.

As a quality of life product, and one that, for the most part, just sits in the background until you need it, Grammarly is fantastic value for money. It was one of the first services I ever purchased, and it’s still one of the best. Even if you don’t upgrade to the full product, the free version is excellent for those who write occasionally. For those content creators who write for a living; buy it; it’s excellent.
